What is this class?: Formula BOSS

This is Formula BOSS (Big Open Single Seaters) Ireland. It includes open sports cars and any car from Formula 1. Even home builds that meet basic safety regulations are eligible. The most popular cars are Formula 3 and Formula Renault but you will see Formula 4000, former Formula Ireland, and Formula 5 cars. There is a class for up to 2.0L and an unlimited capacity class.

How fast do these cars go?
Top speeds can be in excess of 270kph on the straights. Amazing grip levels make these cars the quickest in the country.

How much do these cars cost?
A modest budget of just €5,000 will get you on the Formula BOSS Ireland grid. Of course, you can spend many multiples of that, but there is a place for all levels of car.

And what do they cost to run for a season?
You can expect an outlay of at least €500 for a race weekend, which would include a qualifying session and two races. There are 6 race weekends so a minimum spend would be €3000. Most drivers race as their budget allows.

How do I drive these cars? What are the licence requirements?
You must have a race licence. Applicants for a first-time race licence must first purchase an Introduction to Motorsport Introductory Pack, which is available from Motorsport Ireland. In addition, applicants must also complete a licence form and successfully complete a Motorsport Ireland Introduction to Motorsport Course (IMC).
