FORMULA VEE TO RACE FOR 2024 LEINSTER TROPHY
August 29, 2024Formula Vee Ireland to headline Leinster Trophy Race Weekend
Following the return of the Leinster Trophy to Mondello Park in 2023, this year’s event will yet again see the highly competitive Selco.ie Formula Vee Championship competitors fight for the prestigious Leinster Trophy.
Formula Vee always provides wheel to wheel action and last year’s race was no exception. Despite numerous red flags and ultimately an Appeal to the National Court, Lee Newsome emerged victorious and his name was added to the illustrious list of winners of this historic trophy.
Brian McLoughlin, President of Leinster Motor Club stated “Leinster Motor Club are pleased to announce that Formula VEE Ireland have yet again been selected to race for the Leinster Trophy in 2024. Last year’s race was a very close encounter and demonstrated the competitive nature of the Formula Vee Championship. It was felt that they deserved their opportunity to race for the coveted trophy again this year. We look forward to working with ICCR, Mondello Park and Formula Vee Ireland to put on a great race for the Leinster Trophy at the 14/15 September Leinster Trophy Car Races.”
Commenting on the news Formula Vee Ireland said “We are delighted to be awarded the Leinster Trophy again for 2024. Having raced for the historic trophy in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2023 we now boast a raft of new drivers competing alongside veterans and returnees for the most prestigious award in Irish motorsport. The Formula Vee association has seen a huge interest in the event from our current grid as well as prospective drivers and we expect to have a full grid of cars for the September 14th/15th. Keep tuned into our social media over the coming weeks as we prepare for a Leinster Trophy spectacular!”
As in previous years, Leinster Motor Club will award further perpetual trophies, again steeped in history, to the many support classes in attendance at the event. This year perpetual trophies will be awarded as follows:
