Junior Supersport runs alongside the Moto1 category and represents a step up from the Junior Cup machines that compete within Moto1. These bikes allow a higher level of modification, feature larger engines up to 400cc, and produce more power as a result.
To maintain close competition, each eligible model is controlled through a combination of air restrictors, rev limits, and minimum weight requirements, with ongoing adjustments made when needed to balance performance across different manufacturers. On track, Junior Supersport bikes are typically around two seconds per lap faster than the quickest Moto1 machines at Mondello Park.
A key advantage of the class is that it follows international technical regulations, allowing riders to compete abroad with minimal changes to their bikes.
